UNIVERSWATER Project Presented at Key National Meeting on Urban Flood Resilience

The UNIVERSWATER project was highlighted during the 1st National Stakeholders Meeting of the URBANFLOODS project, held on February 6, 2025, at the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani. Professor Malamati Louta, from the University of Western Macedonia and coordinator of the URBANFLOODS project, introduced the UNIVERSWATER initiative to a distinguished audience of experts and policymakers.
The meeting, organised by the Laboratory of Networks and Advanced Services of the University of Western Macedonia (lead partner of URBANFLOODS) in collaboration with the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Kozani (DEYAK), brought together key figures in flood prevention and management. Its objective was to present the institutional framework, existing policies, and current challenges in addressing flood phenomena, making it a pertinent platform for showcasing innovative projects like UNIVERSWATER.
During her presentation on the URBANFLOODS project’s objectives and expected outcomes, Professor Louta also took the opportunity to introduce the UNIVERSWATER project, in which the University of Western Macedonia is a partner. She highlighted this initiative alongside the RES2FIRE project, showcasing the comprehensive research activities undertaken by the Laboratory of Networks and Advanced Services.
The introduction of UNIVERSWATER to such a diverse group – including representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, various Decentralized Administrations, Regional authorities, Municipalities, and numerous Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Companies – provided a significant opportunity to disseminate information about UNIVERSWATER’s goals and potential contributions to water resource management and resilience.
