Advanced Glyphosate Sensor Technology showcased at the 13th International Conference on Molecular Imprinting in Vienna

During the 13th International Conference on Molecular Imprinting (MIP2026), held at the University of Vienna, Natasa Budimirovic, representing CSEM, presented the latest advancements in the development of a high-precision electrochemical sensor specifically designed for the detection of Glyphosate in water and soil.

The presentation took place at the University of Vienna Biology Building, one of Europe’s most modern research facilities, before an international audience of specialists in material science, analytical chemistry, and medical technology. The development of this sensor is a primary focus of the Universwater project, which seeks to address the urgent challenges caused by agricultural activities, specifically the overuse of natural water resources and pollution from nutrient and pesticide runoff.

As a widely utilized herbicide, Glyphosate represents a significant monitoring challenge for water utilities and agricultural managers. The electrochemical sensor developed by CSEM within the Universwater framework aims to provide rapid, reliable data that can be integrated into broader decision-support systems. This technology is a critical part of the project’s goal to create an AI-based knowledge base for agri-water management and to validate new sensing tools across multiple demonstration sites in Europe.
