The 2026 UN Water Conference is heading to Abu Dhabi

Join the 2026 UN Water Conference from 8 to 10 December in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The event will bring together governments, international organisations, researchers and other stakeholders to accelerate progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 6: ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. This objective is increasingly urgent, as water insecurity poses a systemic risk to food security, energy systems, biodiversity, human health and political stability.

The programme will address priority issues including access to safe drinking water and sanitation, climate resilience, financing for water-related action, international cooperation and stronger water governance.

The Conference’s discussions and outcomes will be particularly relevant to UNIVERSWATER’s work. The project examines water treatment, safe reuse and pollution prevention while considering how water quantity and quality interact within agricultural systems.
