UNIVERSWATER Presented at the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster Event During Water Knowledge Europe 2025

The UNIVERSWATER project proudly took part in the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster (ZP4WC) Event, held during Water Knowledge Europe 2025 – Winter Edition in Brussels. The session, titled “Towards a Water Pollution-Free Europe: Building Synergies, Expanding Collaboration, and Strengthening the Cluster’s Impact,” gathered leading European initiatives working toward the shared ambition of a pollution-free water future.

UNIVERSWATER has recently joined the ZP4WC, which brings together 15 EU-funded projects working in alignment with the European Green Deal, the EU Zero Pollution Action Plan, and the EU Water Resilience Strategy. The Cluster acts as a collaborative platform bridging research, innovation, and policy to protect water resources from pollution at all scales.

During the event, Project Coordinator Pierre Lovera represented UNIVERSWATER, presenting the project’s mission and ongoing work on integrated water management solutions. His intervention highlighted how UNIVERSWATER will contribute to the Cluster’s shared objectives by advancing monitoring technologies, improving data interoperability, and supporting pollution reduction strategies across diverse European contexts.

By linking projects focused on pollution prevention, detection, monitoring, treatment, and governance, the ZP4WC strengthens knowledge exchange and delivers evidence-based insights to support EU policymaking. Its work directly contributes to the goals of the Water Framework Directive and Europe’s long-term water resilience efforts.

The 2025 Cluster Event marked a significant milestone as it welcomed eight new projects, revisited the leadership and structure of the Working Groups, and shaped a common roadmap for future collaboration. Participants engaged with representatives of the European Commission (REA, DG RTD, DG ENV) in strategic discussions aimed at reinforcing the Cluster’s role in Europe’s water research landscape.

The meeting concluded with interactive breakout sessions, where projects exchanged ideas, aligned priorities, and defined next steps for strengthening joint impact. These working sessions provided valuable opportunities to build partnerships and co-create solutions to address Europe’s most pressing water pollution challenges.

As a new member of the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster, UNIVERSWATER looks forward to contributing its expertise and working alongside fellow projects to advance a resilient, interconnected, and pollution-free water future for Europe.
