Bluleaf Launches Wastewater Reuse Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture in Torre Guaceto

On April 14th, Bluleaf officially commenced works for the construction of a facility enabling the reuse of treated wastewater from the Carovigno consortium wastewater treatment plant for irrigation in the agricultural lands of the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, located on the Southern Adriatic coast of Italy.

This significant step is part of Universwater, focused on the intelligent and sustainable management of water resources in agriculture. Bluleaf, through its SYS-MAN system, is a key partner in the Universwater consortium.

The project aims to develop an integrated platform to mitigate salinisation and monitor the impacts of irrigation with treated wastewater on soil, crops, and the environment. By integrating data from sensors, satellites, and geophysical surveys, the initiative seeks to optimize water usage in the region.

Local crops will be central to an experimentation phase designed to evaluate the impact of using treated wastewater, mitigate the risk of salinization, and develop a data-driven decision-making system for agricultural practices.
